Mt. Hood via VMax II
Jay Brooks commented on my last post that you could change the map of my route to show the satellite view instead of the map view. The hybrid view that Google Maps can do - combining the map view with the satellite view is cool, too, which is what I’ve elected to include here.
I love this photo. I only wish the point and shoot gave the kind of clarity my SLR can get. Wait a minute…do I really?
Here’s a variation on that shot, but I like this one cuz it shows how cool my bike looks! Geez do I sound like a kid or what….!
One thing I can tell you for sure, though: riding the VMax beats clothespins and playing cards any day!
Another thing that it seems is de riguer if you love outdoor photography is going to Trillium Lake and taking a shot of Mt. Hood from the far shore. So of course…
Now the thing you really want, is a clear day that is also calm. Not what I had, sad to say. If you do have a calm day, you can get a shot of Mt. Hood reflected in the lake, like at this link.
My next stop after Trillium Lake was the Timberline Lodge. You may remember that I blogged about that place once before. I had to check in to make sure it was still as cool as I remembered. And if they still had good beer on tap! Of course!
Another view of the summit, from my easy chair in the Timberline Lodge Pub.
And, just before I got under way to head on back to Portland, this final view from the saddle of the VMax, sitting in the parking lot of the Timberline Lodge:
Apparently you can still ski all through the year up there. It wasn’t clear to me how to make that happen, because the chair lifts weren’t running when I was there…maybe you have to pay to be ferried up to the top. Hmm.
