So, by now you know that I am relocating to Portland, Oregon come early May. In early March, Stacy and I took a road trip to Portland to scout out living arrangements and tap our connections for job possibilities. It was a great trip in many ways…some stories to come…and of course, I took my camera.

First night of the trip, we stopped to see my aunt Ginny and uncle Pete in Peculiar Missouri. We got up early to go for a walk and “help” feed the horses. I use the word “help” in the most loose interpretation possible. But, anyway, the moon was setting.

It’s amazing how elastic time becomes when driving is your job. It’s hard to believe, but the next night was spent in Fort Collins, CO, with Stacy’s friends Trent and Shelly. So far, highlights of the trip are Pete’s waffles on Sunday morning and Trent’s pancakes on Monday morning.

Best. Carbs. EVER. Seriously.

Monday night was spent in Salt Lake City, UT. We got to town just as the sun was setting, and this is what we saw:

Spent the night at the sketchiest Super 8 Motel the world has ever seen. Yep, it had been renovated. Didn’t effect the clientele all that much, tho…

Tuesday morning, decided to take it a little easy. From this point on, I start working a borrowed lens from Trent into my photo taking regime. Here is a shot I took with that lens at the Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge:

And, somewhere along the way, I caught Stacy smiling at me!

Next day we hit Oregon – but that will have to wait for my next blog.
